Backed by the India's Largest bank - State Bank of India, SBI Funds Management Ltd. is a join venture between SBI and AMUNDI (France), one of the world's leading fund management companies. SBI Mutual Fund was established on 29 June 1987. With 33 years of experience in fund management, SBI Mutual Fund provides a total of 139 primary schemes, consisting of 39 equity funds, 77 debt schemes, 12 hybrid schemes, and 11 others, which include Exchange-traded funds (ETFs), index funds, and gold funds. Currently, SBI holds 63% stake in SBIFML and AMUNDI Asset Management holds 37% through a wholly owned subsidiary, Amundi India Holding.SBI Mutual Fund was the first to bring a 'Contra' fund, called the SBI Contra Fund, to India. In 2013. They acquired Daiwa Mutual Fund from Daiwa Group in Japan.They also introduced the first ESG Fund in India, focusing on the environment, social issues, and governance for sustainable investments.In 2015, the Employees' Provident Fund of India invested Rs. 5,000 crore in a Mutual Fund through SBIMF Sensex ETFs, marking a significant move in Indian mutual fund history. SBI Mutual Fund has Rs. 11,19,756.6 crores as assets under management (AUM) as of Sep 30, 2024. It holds 16.69% of the industry's AUM.
